About Us
My candle journey started when someone broke my BFFL's heart. I wanted to create a candle that invoked new beginnings and self healing - thus the 'fuck boy free' candle was born.
As I delved more into the world of candling, I found many of the leading brands were using harmful ingredients, such as; paraffin wax, toxic fragrance oils and more plastic than needed. This motivated me to create a brand that not only used ethical practices, strives for clean air whilst maintaining the highest quality.
And so, Soux was born (pronounced su). Hand poured and made in LDN with love.
Soux candles aren't just about scents. They're about rekindling the spirit, rediscovering the fun in everyday and embracing the little things in life that spark joy.
Soux is an expression of self, a touch of luxury that doesn't compromise on values.
Soux - because life is too short for mediocre candles.
Frequently asked questions
What wax do you use?
We use a premium blend of coconut and soy wax. Why? Well just like synthetic ingredients in your food are bad, toxins released from paraffin wax are just as bad.
Not only are they not great for your health, they’re just as bad for the environment.
Our cocosoy blend is an all natural, renewable and eco friendly wax.
Are your products vegan?
Yes, we always ensure our wax and fragrance oils are vegan friendly. We never use ingredients that are derived from animal products in the production of our candles.
We stand against animal cruelty
Is your packaging recyclable?
All our packaging is recyclable or biodegradable, including our packing peanuts.
Place packing peanuts under a running luke warm tap and watch them disappear - super satisfying!
Why isn't the appearance of my candle completely uniform?
As our candles are made from natural coconut soy wax, they can sometimes differ in appearance. This will not affect the quality or burn time of your candle. We also avoid using dyes in our candles, but fragrance oils can differ in shade and therefore may tint the wax.
Each and every Soux candle is uniquely hand poured from a small batch, so wax weight can vary slightly.
How long will my candle burn for?
No two candles are the same depending on where you choose to burn it. The approximate burn depends on the size of the candle.
Our 30cl candle burns approx 50 - 60 hours.
How can I make my candle last longer?
- Trim the wick to no more than 5mm
- Let the candle burn for approx 2-3 hours the first time you light it, ensuring a full melt pool has been reached.
- Once your candle has reached its full burning pool, it is recommended burning your candle for no longer than 4 hours.
- Remember to trim the wick between burns to get a soot free burn. This will also help decrease the flickering of a candle.
What is the correct way to put out a candle?
Blowing out your candles like you would a birthday cake, leaves a horrid smell and soot on your wick and melt pool. It can also uneven the candle wax, resulting in a shorter burn time.
Instead, opt for a candle snuffer or a candle wick dipper.
And please for the love of manicures and precious fingertips, DO NOT use your fingers.
Can your containers be reused?
Absolutely! Once there is about 1cm of wax left, stop using the candle. Use caution and care when removing the remaining wax, wicks and any labeling.
Pop your candle jar in the freezer and leave overnight. This will shrink the wax. Take your jar out the following morning and turn it upside down. Leave for a few minutes and the wax should pop right out!
Place the container in hot soapy water to soften any residue and labels, and wash, rinse and dry. Scraping the labels with a knife may damage the glass vessel, so allow to soak for some time.
What size candle do I need for my room?
One candle works great in bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms and average sized living/work spaces. Larger rooms or spaces with high ceilings or open floor plans may need multiple candles for the best fragrance permeation. You can have multiple candles of the same scent, or mix and match them for your own unique blend.
